The first United States postage stamps were released, July 1, 1847, but were only available at the New York City Post Office. The earliest know usages are July 7, 1847 for the 5¢ Franklin, and July 2, 1847 for the 10¢ Washington.

Missing from most collections are these first U.S. imperforate stamps in used condition, both with vivid red cancels. The 5¢ Franklin has VF/XF centering, and the 10¢ Washington has fine centering, with a thin. Perfect time to add these classic U.S. treasures to your collection.
